Amorphophallus bulbifer
With a height of about 1.2 m (4 ft.) one of the smaller Amorphophallus, this species hails from the monsoonal forests of northern and eastern India and Nepal. The single, much branched leaf, carried on a beautifully dark, marbled stalk, forms bulbils on its axils , which can be used to propagate the plant. In winter, the leaf dies and the plant remains dormant in a round underground tuber. With the arrival of warmer weather it puts out a peach colored flower stalk. Amorphophallus bulbifer does well in a warm temperate climate in a protected spot under filtered light. It can also be successfully grown in a pot.
