Ochagavia carnea Bromeliad This terrestrial bromeliad is found growing on dry rocky outcrops in Central Chile. It forms attractive rosettes of bluish green leaves with spiny margins but the true prize for growing this species is the large, bright pink inflorescence which is accompanied by terminal leaves which take on the same hue. The flowers themselves are violet blue. The plant is supremely adapted to Mediterranean climates, somewhat drought tolerant and suitable for USDA zones 9 and above.
